I am the most senior practicing children’s kidney specialist in the UK. I was an NHS consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital for 30 years and was responsible for setting up the children's dialysis and kidney transplant programme. I am an Honorary Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Nephrologist at Great Ormond Street. Honorary Reader in Paediatric Nephrology at the Institute of Child Health, London. Honorary Consultant Nephrologist, UCL Centre for Nephrology, Royal Free Hospital Campus, London. I continue to work as a Nephrologist within the National Health Service. I established the first transition clinic for teenagers and young adults with chronic kidney disease, principally nephrotic syndrome based at The Royal Free Hospital in London. I consult privately at the International & Private Patient Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and at The Portland Hospital My extensive clinical practice covers the entire spectrum of kidney and bladder problems in infants and children, I have a special interest in nocturnal enuresis. Publications include more than 100 peer reviewed papers, clinical reviews and editorials. I am a past president of the International Paediatric Transplant Association (IPTA) and the Paediatric and Child Health Section of The Royal Society of Medicine. Previously a member of the Ethics Committee of the Transplantation Society, European Renal Association, British Transplantation Society and Chairman of the Clinical Ethics Committee at GOSH. Also previously Chair of Trustees of Kids Kidney Research and Trustee of The Association of Medical Registered Charities.
