Dr (Richard) Andrew Archbold was appointed as a Consultant in 2004. He works at Barts Heart Centre, St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and at Newham University Hospital. Dr Archbold qualified from The London Hospital Medical College where he was awarded prizes in Clinical Medicine and in Clinical Surgery. He has held a number of regional and national clinical leadership roles - he is the current British Cardiovascular Society Vice President for Clinical Standards, a Regional Advisor for the Royal College of Physicians, and a member of the London Cardiac Clinical Leadership Advisory Group, and he sat on the national Clinical Reference Group for Cardiac Services (2012-18). He is an Educational Supervisor for junior doctors and was a Foundation Training Programme Director for six years. Dr Archbold is a General & Interventional Cardiologist who manages patients with all types of cardiovascular problems including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitation, and high blood pressure. He performs coronary angiography and coronary stent procedures at Barts Heart Centre, at The London Independent Hospital, and at The Wellington Hospital. He has an interest in the pre-operative assessment of patients who are scheduled to undergo non-cardiac surgery (for example knee or hip replacement, vascular surgery, prostate or gynaecological surgery).
