You don't have to do it alone:Have you been feeling lonely? lost? empty? stuck? questioning what is ‘wrong’ with you? It is not always possible to turn to family or friends for support, where sometimes our difficulties involve these very people. I am here and ready to help. A little about me:I am a qualified psychotherapist. I run my own private psychotherapy and counselling practice. I have been affiliated with bereavement charity '2 Wish Upon A Star', and a handful of employers in offering their employment assistance programme.I have a psychology degree and am also a qualified social worker, having worked in the social care field for several years.I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and have full clinical membership with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). As such, I am bound by their ethical frameworks for good practice.A little about the way I work:I work with adults on a one to one basis, offering short-term counselling to long-term psychotherapy. Counselling tends to be a shorter-term process that is focused on problem-solving around a specific issue. Psychotherapy is a longer-term process which involves going backwards to go forwards; namely exploring the here and now impact of your childhood experiences.I commonly work with childhood/developmental trauma, loss, life transitions, depression, anxiety, and cultural issues. Our work will be a dynamic process, created between the two of us. Generally speaking, my approach is to play an active part; where I ask questions, reflect, share theory and challenge where relevant. You will also be required to be active in your change process.
