As a qualified and experienced secondary school teacher, I have a working knowledge of how students learn and how to assist students who need additional support. Theories regularly underpin techniques I use in the classroom to assist students learn, and I encourage an inclusive classroom environment through the use of various teaching strategies. During my first year, I had sole responsibility for establishing the Psychology Department at Ashlyns School, which has now developed into one of the most popular A-level subjects. I have also taken part in a teacher leadership course in which I have explored the use of mindfulness for childhood anxiety. In addition, I am co-leading the Extended Project Qualification in which students complete a university-style research paper. I am also passionate about raising standards in schools. Currently, I am working one-on-one with teaching assistants to develop attuned interactions with students.
