Mr Kalyan is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon who has worked in more than 12 specialist spinal centres, with more than 40 Spinal Surgeons, Pain Specialists and Numerous Allied Health Spine professionals, all with varied viewpoints and expertise, gaining him an exceptional, broad experience in the wider spectrum of management of spinal conditions from simpler techniques to complex procedures. This broad training has enabled him to offer a dual hat role of both Spinal Pain Management Specialist and Spinal Surgeon, giving his patients a comprehensive, outstanding treatment with the best expertise and care.Mr Kalyan has a methodical and comprehensive approach to a patients diagnosis and management. He predominantly treats his patients with simple non-operative management such as spinal injections, Rhizolysis, specialised physiotherapy exercises, postural training, patient education, bracing and appropriate other tailored made advice, and if required will apply simpler surgical solutions with appropriate minimally invasive techniques, tailored to the individual patients needs, with the aim of achieving a better long-term functional outcome. Mr Kalyan believes that Surgical Wisdom lies in avoiding doing more when less is sufficient . The vast majority of his patients are very satisfied or satisfied with their clinical outcomes and experiences.After graduating in 1990, Mr Kalyan began his training in Spinal Surgery in the institution Christian Medical College Hospital in India. In 1996, he was elected for the travelling fellowship to visit few distinguished spinal surgeons. In Europe, he received advanced training in spinal surgery by attaining the prestigious fellowship in Germany (1997) and Paris (1998).In the UK, from 1998 onwards, he undertook further extensive training and fellowships in Spinal Surgery under various eminent surgeons in Edinburgh, Belfast, Stanmore, London and Nottingham. He obtained his accreditation in Trauma and Orthopaedics, by undertaking the Northern Ireland and Stanmore Orthopaedic rotations.Mr Kalyan lectures in various meetings on the management of spinal conditions. He regularly takes an active part in teaching at various spine carers from different backgrounds. In the past, as a Clinical Lecturer at London UCL, he had excellent experiences conducting various courses and teaching programmes. He has taken part in research and audits focusing on various aspects of spinal conditions. He was awarded the MD degree and has won many prizes for his high-quality research work on spinal pathologies.
