Rama Vancheeswaran is a Consultant Chest and General Physician at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust. She is also an Honorary Consultant at the Brompton Hospital where she works as a specialist in the Interstitial Lung Disease unit. She is the ILD lead for the Royal Free group of hospitals. As Barnet site’s Lead for COPD, she runs the Integrated service. Her interests are local provision of COPD and general respiratory services. She is a British Lung Foundation Ambassador, representing the patient’s view, and a member of the BTS COPD Specialist Advisory Group. She is the BTS and Trust Smoking and Interstitial Lung Disease Lead. Previous posts held at Barnet were Clinical Director, Associate Medical Director for both Barnet and Chase Farm Trust and Barnet Community Services. Her passions are patient empowerment, streamlined care, the ideals of the NHS at its formation and her family. She holds a PhD in Interstitial Lung & Connective Tissue Diseases and an MSc in Immunology. Her extensive research publications cover the Immunopathology of Scleroderma, Non-Specific Interstitial Pneumonitis and COPD and she continues to lecture on these subjects.
