Dr Goonetilleke has been a Consultant General Paediatrician since 2009 and has a special interest in Paediatric Endocrinology. After completing his registrar training at The John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford he has worked primarily as a consultant at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and also holds an Honorary contract at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge.Dr Goonetilleke sees children with most general problems including but not limited to: abdominal pain, constipation, cough, asthma and urinary tract infections. He has a special interest in child endocrinology, particularly diabetes, thyroid disorders, growth problems, obesity and puberty.As an examiner and tutor for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Dr Goonetilleke is responsible for ensuring the next generation of paediatricians are competent. He has numerous publications in international paediatric journals and has held courses to further the education of GPs. He is now working with Spire providing private care for children at The Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital.
