Biography
The purpose of therapy is not to talk, but to learn to talk DIFFERENTLY. I do not believe that self-discovery in therapy necessarily equals self-change. In order to make adaptive changes in life, we must take action on our discoveries; without action, there is no change. It is essential to have, or develop, a willingness for action and motivation to make adaptive changes in life. I recognize the hard work that is required in therapy and I am committed to assisting and supporting individuals in implementing strategies that integrate new ways of thinking and acting into daily life.
For the past 11 years I have worked with combat veterans and their families. I have helped individuals cope with combat, childhood, and sexual trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression, assisted couples with relationship conflict and parenting issues, and worked with children to more effectively manage their emotions and navigate their world.
I strive to help individuals identify and understand thoughts and behaviors that keep them stuck in unhealthy and unsatisfying ways of feeling and being in the world, then work to challenge and reframe these to develop more adaptive alternative beliefs and coping strategies to enjoy more of life again.
