I am an experienced psychology professor who has taught approximately 50 courses, including ten sections of Research Methods and six sections of Statistics. Holding degrees in both social psychology and cognitive neuroscience, I enjoy bringing a unique blend of perspectives to my work. In both my teaching and research endeavors, I place a strong emphasis on quantitative reasoning and effective communication. This is reflected in the assignments I create, including a data analysis project in Statistics and an original research project in Research Methods. For the data analysis project, I survey students about their interests within psychology and create hypothetical data sets based on those interests (and modelled after actual findings in the research literature); students then work in small groups to analyze the large data sets using statistical software and create written reports with relevant figures. For the research project, I guide students through the process of conducting original research, including performing literature reviews, developing research questions, designing studies, collecting data, analyzing data, and presenting results in multiple formats. Working in academia has allowed me to cultivate a diverse skill set encompassing project management, time management, problem-solving, the development of accessible materials, collaboration with diverse stakeholders, adeptness in adapting to changing circumstances, and a rapid capacity for self-directed learning of new skills and information.
