Mr Beechey-Newman trained at Guy’s Hospital Medical School between 1977 and 1983. He spent 14 years in general surgical training before joining the Breast Unit as Guy’s King's and St.Thomas’ Hospitals. He specialises exclusively in breast disorders including benign breast problems, the treatment of breast cancer and breast reconstructive surgery. Mr Beechey-Newman was one of the first surgeons in the UK to perform sentinel node biopsy after visiting Dr Armando Giuliano who first described the technique in California. He has also pioneered breast duct micro-endoscopy in Europe. He has researched and written extensively on these two subjects the latter being the subject of more than 2,000 media articles. Research publications include articles on breast duct micro-endoscopy, sentinel node biopsy, breast cancer occurring in very young women (under the age of 25 years) and Paget’s disease of the nipple. Mr Beechey-Newman sees patients at The Harley Street Breast Clinic where he is Clinical Director, at the London Bridge Hospital (in the Shard Building) and The Lister Hospital on the Chelsea Embankment.
