Nerida Nieves, APRN, has more than a decade of experience as a nurse and a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner and enjoys teaching her patients to better participate in their own care. Ms. Nieves sees patients 2 years and older at our Highlands location. What is your patient care philosophy? I deliver quality, compassionate care that is evidence-based and centered on patients and their families to help them improve their lives. What would you like people to know about you as a care provider? I am a good listener and I take the time to be thorough with my patients. I genuinely care about their health and well-being, and I provide the same care for my patients that I would want my family to receive. Why did you decide to become a nurse practitioner? I have always found the medical field to be very interesting, and I love taking care of others. Becoming an APRN allows me to make a difference by helping patients and families with their healthcare needs. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? I enjoy building a trusting relationship with my patients and making a difference in someone’s life. When did you know you wanted to be a medical care provider? The moment I had my first son, I realized what a tremendous impact a provider can have on a person’s life. I wanted to provide compassionate care during times when people need it most. What are some interesting facts about you? I’m fully bilingual (Spanish and English), dedicated, hard-working and family-oriented. My favorite pastime is going to the beach, traveling and spending time with my family and friends. Tell us about your family. I am married and have three wonderful children of whom I am very proud.
