Dr Murali Bhat is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, and with a special interest in hand and upper limb surgery. He also sees patients privately at a number of locations.Additional interests are varied and include forefoot surgery, carpal tunnel surgery and trigger finger release, ligament injuries, arthritis and tendonitis.Dr Bhat completed his orthopaedic residency programme in India and arrived in the UK in 1995. He undertook his orthopaedic training in Northern Ireland between 1995 and 2000, specialising in trauma management including gunshot injuries. He then went to Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, specialising in hand surgery and did a Fellowship for 12 months. He then spent nearly a year in the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, specialising in shoulder surgery. Mr Bhat was appointed to the Surrey and Sussex in January 2005.Dr Bhat has undertaken research into the management of wrist problems including distal radial fractures, scaphoid fractures, carpal dislocations in the wrist and shoulder problems including frozen shoulder.
