Dr Mohtasim Qamruddin is a Consultant Psychiatrist for General Adult Psychiatry, Al Amal Psychiatry Hospital, Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dubai. Dr Mohtasim Qamruddin graduated in 2001 from the prestigious Mysore University in India. He pursued his Psychiatry training in UK from 2003. He completed his 4-year core specialist training in 2007, Cardiff, UK. He obtained his Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2007. After completing his higher specialist training in Wales, he obtained Certificate of Completion of Training, Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2011 in General Adult Psychiatry with endorsement in Addictions. He also obtained MSc in Psychiatry from Cardiff university in 2009. He worked as Consultant in General adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in West Wales, UK from August 2011 till October 2017, when he moved to UAE. He has special interest in various Psychotherapies in particular CBT and EMDR. He attained post graduate qualification from the esteemed Oxford University and did further training, teaching and supervision and got accreditation from British Association of Behaviour and Cognitive Psychotherapy in 2016. He became Royal College tutor and Programme Director for West Wales training programme in 2012. He was appointed as Training Programme Director for core training in wales deanery in 2015. During his tenure, he was responsible for various initiatives including standardization of annual assessments for trainees (ARCP), introduction of communications skills training based on motivational interviewing and centralised CBT training. He has co conducted workshops in Royal College Annual Post Graduate Training Conference, UK. Dr Mohtasim Qamruddin was medical lead for eating disorders and psychotherapy, West Wales UK. He was the medical member of tier 3 personality disorder consultation service, involved in assessing and advising on management complex and high-risk patients. He also represented Royal College of Psychiatrists, London for consultant psychiatric interview panel(AAC) at various NHS organisations across UK. Currently working as Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry, Al Amal Psychiatry hospital. He is clinical lead for inpatient psychiatry and involved in various service development initiatives. He has conducted workshops in CBT and communication skills training.
