Mr Pringle is an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon based in Portsmouth. Mr Pringle qualified from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1983. He then gained experience in ENT and the related specialties of neurosurgery, plastic surgery and general surgery gaining the General Surgical Fellowship in 1988, before embarking on ENT training in 1989. He trained at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London and also in Bristol and Exeter, after which he undertook a year's Fellowship in Melbourne working in the department of Professor Graeme Clarke, inventor of the Nucleus Cochlear Implant. In 1997 Mr Pringle was appointed as Consultant ENT Surgeon at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth and Consultant Otologist (ear specialist) to the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS). He has experience in treating all General Adult and Paediatric ENT conditions with a special interest in ear surgery and the surgical management of deafness (grommets, stapedectomy, ossiculoplasty). Mr Pringle has performed over 2000 major ear operations. He performs Otoplasty surgery and the new minimally invasive technique of EarFold. He also sees patients with balance problems and tinnitus. He sees patients with sore throat, tonsillitis, rhinitis and nasal obstruction and has an interest in snoring management. He is involved in research and the evaluation of various hearing devices. He has performed over 400 cochlear implants on patients from 7 months old to 90 years old. He has introduced new implantable hearing devices to the UK. He is now the Educational Supervisor for the ENT trainee doctors. He runs a temporal bone course for trainee ENT surgeons. He regularly attends international conferences and keeps up to date with the latest developments and innovations in ENT.
