Dr. Dorsi is a Board-Certified, Fellowship trained Neurosurgeon that has been providing top-notch care to the Ventura County community since 2012. He was born and raised in Stirling, NJ. The fundamental value of helping others and service to the community was instilled in him at an early age by his mother who worked as a nurse and later director of religious education at the local church and father who served the community as a police officer. After completing high school, he attended The Johns Hopkins University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Highest Honors and a degree in Neuroscience. He then earned a medical degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. While a student, he conducted ground-breaking research in the field of Neuropathic Pain and was awarded the Ronald Tasker Award from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Harvey Cushing Award from the Johns Hopkins Department of Neurosurgery and was a research scholar of the American Association of Neurology. Dr. Dorsi then completed residency training in neurosurgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital where he trained under some of the most prominent leaders in neurosurgery. In addition to general neurosurgery training. He developed a unique sub-specialty skillset in complex peripheral nerve surgery. During residency, he was awarded a prestigious fellowship from the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine and dedicated two years to researching spinal cord injury and stem cell transplantation at UCLA. He then returned to Johns Hopkins Hospital and served as Assistant Chief of Service of Neurosurgery. Following residency, Dr. Dorsi was honored as the recipient of the Cloward Fellowship for Spine and Peripheral Nerve Surgery from the American Academy of Neurological Surgery and completed a one-year minimally invasive and complex spine fellowship at UCLA. Dr. Dorsi joined Ventura County Neurosurgical Associates in 2012.
