I completed my MSc in Occupational Therapy at Queen Margaret University in 2020. For my dissertation topic, I explored "occupational therapists' perceptions towards addressing the sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities". Throughout my occupational therapy training, I had four practice placements which enabled me to develop my knowledge and skills of the occupational therapy profession. These were as follows: (1). Older Adult Mental Health (inpatient) (2). Older Adult Physical Health (inpatient/ outpatient) (3). Community Adults Health & Social Care Edinburgh (Edinburgh Council) (4). Child and Adolescents Mental Health Service (outpatient) I excelled on all four placements which was demonstrated through my grades where I achieved an A* on all four placements. I currently work as a community occupational therapist with Midlothian Council and I specialise in major home adaptations and the provision of specialist equipment. Although my role is vast, I thoroughly enjoy the challenge. I consider myself as someone who is highly ambitious with a strong drive to learn and optimise my occupational therapy skills. I am currently in the process of registering as an occupational therapist for the NHS bank staff where I will work in various locations throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians to gain acute hospital experience. Prior to my occupational therapy training I completed a BA in Psychology & Sociology at the University of Limerick. This training and knowledge has, and will continue to enhanced my ability to provide a person-centred approach to practice.
