My name is Maria Elisa Lupi, MD. Prior to returning to the University of Florida (UF) Department of Community Health and Family Medicine, I had the privilege to work at the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. I received my medical degree from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina. I practiced in my native country alongside my father at his clinic focused on preventative medicine, primary care, women's health, and surgical procedures. I relocated to the United States and conducted research as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Physiology at the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute in Gainesville. After completion of a rigorous examination to revalidate my medical degree, I earned my residency training at UF in 2009 and served as an OBGYN track chief resident. I practiced at UF Health in the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine for 12 years.I have a special interest in integrative holistic medicine, and expanded my skills with training in wellness at the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine in 2021. I received the distinguished achievement of Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine.I emphasize the importance of disease prevention and nutrition as part of my care for acute and chronic medical conditions. When I was 18, I earned the degree of professor of Flamenco dances. My goal is to create a unique and sacred space for my patients, where I combine my passions of cooking, dance, and the powerful healing of art as medicine.
