Her clinical areas of interest include preventive medicine, women’s health, chronic disease management of diabetes, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and congestive heart failure (CHF). Dr. Nerkar treats adults with a focus in internal medicine. Her practice philosophy is to provide compassionate, thorough care with attention to overall health of the patient.She received her training from Nagpur University’s Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital in India. Dr. Nerkar completed her Internal Medicine Residency Program at Temple University Hospital- Episcopal Campus in Philadelphia, PA. In her previous practice where she was supervising Physician Director she has led multiple initiatives. She has developed education material for COPD patients. She has been an active participant in chronic opioid use initiatives.Dr. Nerkar is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). She is an active member of the American Medical Association (AMA). She has also mentored nurse practitioner students. She is fluent in Hindi and Marathi.On a personal note, Dr. Nerkar enjoys spending time with her family, vacationing at the beach and cooking. She also likes dancing, bicycling and yoga.
