In 1986, Andrew Sidebottom qualified BDS with honours at Bristol University followed by an MBChB with honours in Birmingham 7 years later. He achieved FDSRCS in 1992 and FRCS 1995. He performed Oral Surgery training in Birmingham and Liverpool from 1986 to 1989 and basic surgical training in Bristol 1994 to 1996. After this, his higher surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was attained in Liverpool from 1996 to 2001. In 2000, Mr Sidebottom passed exit FRCS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the Gold Medal. Mr Sidebottom is a recognised international expert in management of TMJ disorders. He has written 30 book chapters (including Grays Anatomy), over 80 publications and has been the invited keynote speaker on over 100 occasions at International conferences including all 3 major Maxillofacial Annual Scientific conferences. He was president of the European TMJ Society in 2013 and clinical lead for BAOMS TMJ Special Interest Group for 6 years. Associate Editor for BJOMS for 10 years. He has performed more TMJ replacements than any other surgeon in Europe and is in the top 5 in the world. He is the invited Patron of the Indian Society for TMJ Surgery. His additional surgical experience is in dentoalveolar surgery, facial deformity and facial skin surgery. Mr Sidebottom also provides a dental implant and minor oral surgery service at Smile Centre (Trent Bridge Oral Surgery) in Nottingham. He has been a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Nottingham since 2001 and an honorary assistant professor at the University of Nottingham and a guest professor at 6 Indian Universities. Currently, he practices in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at BMI Park Hosptital (where he also covers BMI Lincoln remotely) and Spire Nottingham Hospital. He has avaialability for remote video consultations from anywhere in the UK.
