Johana received her MSN from Regis College in the Boston area, Massachusetts in 2011. Her interest in oncology began when she started working as a nurse practitioner at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in the Weiner Center for Preoperative Evaluation. She took on an inpatient oncology nurse practitioner role at Spaulding Hospital’s acute rehab unit through Massachusetts General Hospital’s pilot program in reducing readmissions of oncologic patients. Here, she came to learn of bone marrow transplant and hematologic malignancies. She took a nurse practitioner position at City of Hope in the Los Angeles area, in the Department of Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation, where she has worked since 2014. Since February 2024, Johana continues with City of Hope, now in their newly built cancer center in Irvine, California where she continues to make an impact in the care of patients with hematologic malignancies.
