Brandy Hand is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 17 years of experience in health care. She started out working in the dental field as a Registered Dental Assistant and then transitioned into nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington and her Master of Science in Nursing at Carson-Newman Christian University. Brandy has experience working in pediatric home health, medical/surgical acute care, rehabilitation, primary care, and urgent care for both adults and children and women’s health. Brandy chose to specialize in obesity after collaborating with several patients in primary care who were seeking weight loss. It was so rewarding watching her patients transform that she knew she wanted to be a part of that daily. She also chose to add women’s health as she was coming across many patients experiencing perimenopause and menopause complaining of symptoms that were being overlooked by their primary provider. Brandy previously worked in primary/urgent care and saw a frequent problem occurring. Her patients were only being scheduled for short appointments back-to-back and she was not able to spend adequate time with them to provide the best treatment. Also in her previous job, insurance was also restricting the types of treatment she was able to provide. That is what drove her to open her own medical practice. Brandy wanted a practice where she would not feel rushed with her patients and where she could treat them based on what is best for them medically, not what insurance is saying is best. Since opening her practice, Brandy has added Direct Primary Care for ages 6 and up in her practice.
