Dr. Luzia is a Consultant Rheumatologist, registered at the Portuguese Medical Association and Irish Medical Council. She is also Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at MBRU. Dr. Luzia graduated in Medicine at the University of Oporto (Portugal) in 2003. She completed her five-year rheumatology residency at the largest tertiary public hospital in Portugal. Dr. Luzia has 20 years of experience in the diagnosis and management of all rheumatic conditions, including early arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, gout, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, myositis, Sjogren syndrome, vasculitis, fibromyalgia and soft tissue rheumatism. She is also well experienced in performing joint injections and aspirations, soft tissue injections, musculoskeletal ultrasound and treating with biological therapies. Dr. Luzia has been involved in research projects, teaching and training medical students and resident doctors and published several papers in leading peer-reviewed journals.
