During my time at university I have taken on additional roles that have interested me, or I have developed a passion for. These include, 2nd year student representative, facilitator of support groups, organising student projects and mentoring. I have set up and facilitated, with a small team of students, a project called the OT Cafe. This highly successful project is designed for OT students at the University, we arrange guest speakers, within diverse or emerging clinical practice roles to come and speak with the students about their area of practice and how it has developed. I have facilitated a student-parent support network across the three OT cohorts, as a student-parent myself, I feel it is essential to have good, open, non-judgemental support systems in place to get through the challenges of University. I have two mentees from 1st and 2nd year that I support, providing advise and guidance on the OT programme, assignments and study skills. I was also the voice of the students when in 2nd year, attending meetings regarding the programme and feeding back students views, concerns, complaints and compliments.
