Description

I am an executive leader of public health services with over 25 years experience as a leader, manager, clinician, author, academic, researcher and mentor. Across my career my purpose has been delivering responsive and effective health care for women, babies, children, adolescents and their families. I am passionate about ensuring the health system focuses on the social determinants of health, to redress the disadvantage and discrimination that affects women’s access to high quality health care. I am committed to Closing the Gap and am the Executive Sponsor of the Women’s Innovate Reconciliation Plan. Over the years I have represented health on a number of Commonwealth and State committees focused on improving health outcomes for First Nations peoples. I have also had a long standing commitment to mentoring, coaching and clinical supervision. I have lectured, researched and published on the benefits of clinical supervision for health care professionals. My research findings lead to the development of the Lynch Model : a how to guide for health services seeking to implement clinical supervision and other supportive/reflective frameworks to support staff. My focus was on ‘caring for the carer to enable them to more effectively care for themselves and others’. Whilst this research and my international text book co authored with colleagues from the University of Melbourne was a number of years ago now - after the challenges the health care system has faced in the past few years a commitment to our staff is more important than ever ! I hold a Masters in Business Administration, Master in Mental Health Nursing by Research and I am a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. I began my career as a Registered Nurse and Registered Mental Health Nurse. My success is driven by strong integrity and resilience as well as developing accountability in high performing teams. I have exceptional communication skills and an ability to think strategically and function operationally in order to translate vision into tangible action! As the Women’s Chief Operating Officer I lead and mange clinical services across the hospital with a focus on safety, quality and exceptional patient and staff experiences. I joined the Women’s in January 2019 after serving as A/Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer at the Women’s and Childrens Health Network SA. Prior to this I held senior leadership roles at Victorias Eastern Health and Monash Health. I feel incredibly privileged to be a part of the Women’s it is an extraordinary organisation.
