I am an experienced Adult Consultant Psychiatrist with over twenty years of psychiatric practice. I qualified as a medical doctor in my home country Italy in 2001 at the University of Pisa. After completion of my postgraduate training in Italy, I was approved on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register to practice general adult psychiatry in 2006. I have been a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2012. I have worked as NHS Consultant Psychiatrist since 2006 and acquired vast experience of treating a broad range of mental health disorders ranging from anxiety, depression, bipolar affective disorder, psychosis, PTSD, dissociative and personality disorders. Between 2004-2006 I worked as psychiatrist in a 3 year clinical research follow-up study of patients with fibromyalgia in S. Chiara Hospital, University of Pisa where I acquired knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of somatoform disorders and specifically fibromyalgia and studied the effect of pharmacotherapy (SSRI and amitriptyline) on pain symptomatology and quality of life. In 2006 I qualified as Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapist with the School of Cognitive Psychotherapy in Rome, Italy and I practiced CBT therapy privately between 2006 to 2011. I have been approved for the purposes of Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 from 2007 and have obtained Approved Clinician status in 2009. I am especially interested in the treatment of anxiety and affective disorders as well as mental health difficulties originating from the exposure to traumatic events including PTSD, complex PTSD and acute stress reaction as well as adjustment disorders. I am also interested in perinatal psychiatry and perimenopausal disorders. I have become EMDR therapist in 2010 and I have been practicing EMDR since then. I have obtained APT’s accreditation for ACT Essentials (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) in 2016 and APT’s accreditation for CBT for PTSD in 2021. In my NHS job with the SABP NHS Foundation Trust I have attained Clinical Excellence Awards level 1 in 2010 and level 2 in 2020.
