My name is Kathy Poissot and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Seattle, WA and work with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults 18 years and older and specialize in general mental health and relationship challenges using Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients make progress and start feeling better. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on the individual needs of each client. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, as both methods help the client and myself build a common understanding of their situation and we can begin to create a plan to move forward. My focus I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who may be dealing with the stressors of life transitions in a busy life. This can often take the form of anxiety, depression, stress, and addiction disorders. I work with my clients to help untangle these issues and build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life. My communication style My communication style is personable, empathic, and open-minded with a little bit of humor to create an environment where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to achieve their personal goals. I want clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and then feel that we can work together to make their life better. My journey to mental healthcare When I was in High School, I decided I wanted to be a therapist, because I always wanted to help people. Whether I was a school guidance counselor, A Military Family Life Counselor, an Inpatient or Intensive Outpatient Treatment Center, a mental health center, or other community volunteer opportunities, I have always been drawn naturally to helping people through difficult times. I enjoy seeing individuals learn to trust themself and grow into the best version of themself.
