I earned my Master of Social Work, with a Clinical specialization, from The University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2006. I have worked in the field of mental health since the 1990s. For over 18 years I have helped people 18 and up with a variety of mental health issues including: depression, anxiety, bipolar, stress in major life adjustments, grief/loss, psychosis, eating disorders, addictions, trauma, dementia, and some personality disorders. I am an LGBTQ+ Ally. I use a client centered, strengths based approach, and value partnering with my clients to create realistic long term goals broken into smaller, manageable steps. I value providing a nonjudgemental, validating space to explore their issues and learn healthier ways to cope. Many of my clients seek a solution focused approach. I teach mindfulness and specific healthy coping skills (CBT, DBT) and have allowed clients to share their art as part of how they express their thoughts and emotions. After a free 15 min phone consultation we would meet for a 60 min evaluation where you can tell your story including history, symptoms, problems & strengths. Next we create goals. I encourage clients to view holistic factors in their recovery including sleep, diet, social connections, meaningful activities, physical health, etc. If you want to learn coping skills, I will offer brief "homework" to do in between sessions. Clients who collaborate with me can increase balance in their lives
