I am currently employed by the NHS as an Occupational Therapist, within a specialist Learning Disability team. I have both a community and an in-patient caseload on a low secure forensic unit. The role covers a broad range of conditions from mild to profound learning disabilities. I complete Initial assessments as well as functional assessments. I also complete individual and group treatment plans. My role covers a range of responsibilities from clerical work and data input to completing therapeutic interventions. These interventions include ADL assessments, equipment provision, travel training and also sensory integration screening. I independently facilitate groups (Relaxation, Drama and Arts and Crafts). I work alongside three other qualified OT's and prioritise my own workload. I carry a complex caseload and I am used to dealing with other members of the multi-disciplinary team as well as external agencies.
