Mr Kamal Iskander believes that regular screening and checks are the key to a healthy life as prevention of ill-health is more effective than management of diseases. Therefore, he strongly believes that the use of routine ultrasound scanning regularly and during gynaecological consultations is a useful tool in confirming normality and detecting pathology. Mr Kamal Iskander carried out his research project for his MD in Edinburgh University with the Scottish Office (1998 – 2001). He was trained in all aspects of the speciality including Urogynaecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery in UHW (University Hospital of Wales), assisted conception at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London (2002/2003). Mr Iskander gained a unique experience and is a preceptor for advanced laparoscopic Minimally Invasive (Keyhole) Surgery. He is also an experienced pelvic surgeon. By using these two approaches with the smallest possible incisions he managed to adopt some of the open procedures to key-hole approach like Incontinence, prolapse surgery and other surgeries for benign gynaecological disease. By that he believes that women experience of surgical procedure will benefit from quicker recovery, shorter hospital stay and markedly less postoperative pain.
