Dr Chelvi Kukendrarajah, Consultant Paediatrician and had been the Lead Clinician, working for the Central North West London NHS Trust within their Community Paediatric Services. She has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of social communication disorders like Autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and co-existing conditions like ADHD, Developmentla Coordination Disorder (DCD- known as Dyspraxia in the past), learning difficulties, and sleep and feeding disorders. Following graduation, she began her training to specialise in Paediatrics and went on to be awarded her membership to the Royal College of Paediatrics in 2003. She was also appointed a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics that same year. She has previously worked in the world-renowned National Centre for Social Communication Disorders, Harper House Childrens Service and in various London Teaching Hospitals. During her Higher Specialty Training, she focused on neurodevelopmental conditions and neurological disabilities, being awarded a Masters by University College London. She is highly experienced in the assessment of these conditions with the use of the Developmental, Dimensional and Diagnostic Interview, DISCO, ADI-R, diagnostic interview checklist for neurodevelopmental assessment, and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and Bayley III. Dr Kukendrarajah strives to work multidisciplinary with a team consisting of speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. She regularly works with other agencies outside of medicine like Education and Social Services to ensure a comprehensive and safe treatment plan for her patients. Dr Kukendrarajah has developed an excellent service for ASD patients allowing evidence-based practices and NICE recommendations to guide her. She aims to provide the best care possible to her patients, in doing so she endeavours to follow the best evidence-based practices and NICE guidelines. She had multiple Clinical Excellence Awards for her hard work in the NHS.
