Dr. Josephine Jose is a Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate medical studies in Mumbai and London. She worked for 34 years at the Latifa Maternity and Paediatric Hospital, which is a leading tertiary care centre for Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and also operated her own private practice before joining Mediclinic. Dr. Jose was Associate Professor at the Dubai Medical College for Girls and served as an Examining Faculty at the same institution. She is currently on the Faculty of Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medical Science as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor. She was also the Co-Director for Residency training at Latifa Hospital. Dr. Jose was Vice Chairman of the Mother-Friendly Hospital Initiative at the Latifa Hospital in Dubai, where she helped achieve accreditation as a Mother Friendly Hospital, promoting natural childbirth practices and a reduction in the rate of interventions, including Cesarean sections. She promotes natural childbirth by reducing induction of labour, external cephalic version for breech and encouraging vaginal birth after Caesarean delivery. She has long experience in managing High Risk Obstetric cases and performing complicated Caesarean sections and instrumental deliveries. She has good experience in vaginal surgical repairs for prolapse uterus and vagina, and in performing cervical cerclage by the double cerclage technique with good outcomes. She has special interest in prevention and management of preterm delivery. Dr. Jose is a certified Menopause Practitioner and runs a dedicated Menopause clinic with a multidisciplinary team. She actively spreads community awareness for women's health issues through talks and writing newspaper articles.
