Joseph Niro, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 1984. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Stonehill College in 1980. Dr. Niro specializes in primary eye care and contact lens application. When asked why he became an optometrist, Dr. Niro expressed that as a science major with proficiency in the optics/optical section of physics, optometry provided a clear pathway for him and discerned from years as an orderly in an emergency room setting at an urban hospital while in college. As a de facto Emergency Medical Technician, Dr. Niro learned where his strengths and interests would live within the healthcare delivery system. Dr. Niro feels it is a privilege and honor to be in service to others. Primary eye care, under the auspices of optometry, far exceeds any other healthcare profession for Dr. Niro. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Niro enjoys gardening, classical music, golfing, hiking, and is also a former runner.
