Dr. Joseph Magnant earned his Doctorate in Medicine and performed his General Surgery internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his Vascular Surgery fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire and is certified by the American Board of Surgery in Vascular Surgery. He is an active member of The Society for Vascular Surgery, The American College of Phlebology, The Southern Association for Vascular Surgery and is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He practiced arterial and venous vascular surgery as part of a large multi-specialty group in Rome, Georgia for 14 years after completing his fellowship in vascular surgery in 1992. Dr. Joseph Magnant opened up his practice, Vein Specialists in Fort Myers, Florida in 2006 and expanded his medical practice by opening another Vein Specialists location in Bonita Springs, Florida in 2014. Dr. Magnant considers the venous system as a whole rather than as individual parts. Most patients will undergo ultrasound evaluation as part of their comprehensive venous workup to ensure that any underlying vein problems are identified before formulating a treatment plan. Patient education, thorough evaluation and superior execution of minimally invasive modern procedures, when appropriate, are the cornerstones of Vein Specialists’ practice foundation. His fellowship training in vascular surgery and his 14 years of practice of peripheral vascular surgery from 1992 until 2006, enables him to offer patients a balanced and thoughtful approach to their venous problems. His broad base of knowledge of the full vascular system (veins and arteries) puts him in the unique position of not only documenting the severity of venous or arterial disease but in having the professional experience to make the best venous treatment decision or arterial vascular surgery referral. He successfully achieved the rigorous recertification in Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery in 2014. Dr. Magnant offers both the Radiofrequency ClosureFast (VENEFIT) and LASER endovenous closure procedures. He is the only Board Certified Vascular Surgeon in Southwest Florida whose practice is 100% dedicated to the scientific evaluation and minimally invasive treatment of vein disorders. It is his strong belief that specialization and focus within one’s area of specialty training is the best way to consistently deliver superior care.
