Description

Joel M. Lamon, M.D. is a native San Diegan and a Hoover High School graduate. He received his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and his M.D. from the University of Southern California. Dr. Lamon’s postdoctoral training was at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Hospital (internship and residency in internal medicine). Following internal medicine training, he served in the U.S. Public Health Service at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Lamon’s fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology was at the National Cancer Institute and Scripps Clinic. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. Following four years on the staff of Scripps Clinic, he established his specialty practice in Escondido and Poway. He has been on the medical staffs of Palomar and Pomerado hospitals for 27 years. Affiliations include Fellow of the American College of Physicians (F.A.C.P.), membership in the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. He is chairman of the Cancer Committee of the Palomar Health System and has participated in the San Diego County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Dr. Lamon is married and has three grown children. In his free time, he likes gardening and playing golf. His favorite quote is: “Not everything that is counted counts and not everything that counts can be counted.” (Albert Einstein). However, his children will tell you that it is: “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” (Poor Richard, Benjamin Franklin).
