I have been a registered nurse since 2004 where I began working in a cardiac step down unit at St Joseph Mercy Oakland. I worked there for about three years when I decided to move to the cardiac intensive care unit for more of a challenge. I worked there for 6 years - after about 2 years I began a part time program at Oakland University to obtain my Family Nurse Practitioner degree. I graduated in 2013 and began working for a cardiology practice, sticking with what I was most comfortable with to begin my NP career. After working there for about 18 months, I relocated to McLaren Oakland and currently work as the nurse practitioner for the trauma service. I manage trauma patients care from admission to discharge - working closely with specialty services. I also recently took on the role of Stroke coordinator, as there have been budget cuts, so I have just begun to get my feet wet in this area also. I love being a nurse and helping patients and families. I truly enjoy being a nurse practitioner as well and look forward to this being a life long career. As far as achievements, I am BLS and ACLS trained. I also have ABLS - which is a training for burn patients, TNCC and TCAR - which are both trauma nursing certifications. I have also been a nursing preceptor in both areas that I worked in during my RN career, as well as sitting on process improvement committees during both of my careers at St Joe's and McLaren.
