I work with people who are living with stroke, traumatic brain injury, dementia, and related diseases/disorders as well as their families and caregivers. I provide integrative rehabilitation counseling for people with acquired communication disorders such as aphasia, apraxia, and dysarthria. In 2013, I sustained a traumatic brain injury. After a year of intensive speech therapy, I learned strategies to manage my communication impairment. Through my personal and professional experience, the need for providers well-versed in how to counsel people who have acquired communication disorders became clear. My practice provides a comprehensive, holistic approach to living with (or caring for someone with) a communication disorder: how it impacts mental health, physical health, occupation, and relationships. My mission is to help improve quality of life for people with communication disorders and their loved ones through integrative rehabilitation counseling.
