Immediately after graduating with a MSN in primary care, I worked in a rural setting (San Joaquin, CA) providing a broad range of services. After 18 months, I began working with Fresno County, providing family practice care at the health department in downtown Fresno, and continued to do so until Community Regional took over health care duties. I then worked at Juvenile Hall/ JJC until 2009. During this time, I began providing outpatient mental health services in Hanford, CA with Kings View Counseling Services for Kings County- I was the first NP they hired! I continued my mental health career with Kings View, providing medication services for their Housing and Recovery program and the PATH program, making home visits when patients were unable to make to the office. I currently work with the Kings View Corporate team, providing medication monitoring for their telepsychiatry program. I spent 2015-2021 providing inpatient psychiatric care for adolescents aged 12-17 at Central Star youth psychiatric health facility(PHF), which can be incredibly challenging but equally rewarding. As of January 2022 I have been fortunate to gain employment at WestCare working with a federally funded SAMHSA grant providing MAT services to clients with an OUD with the goal of decreasing mortality from opiate overdose.
