It was my calling to become a physician. Taking care of those in need is my life’s work, and when I started in pediatrics, I knew I had found my medical home. My husband even says, I “speak baby.” Every patient has a story, and I want patients to be comfortable telling me the whole story. I approach each patient as someone whose concern clearly interests me because it does. I am proud of the long-term relationships I build with families, and I feel honored that they bestow so much trust in me. I will walk alongside my patients wherever the path takes us. I am not afraid to show my own worries or love for my patients. I am a patient physician, and I’m also a teacher. I experience profound wonder and joy every day in my work, and that is what I like to teach my students, who are going to become physicians.
