Biography
Dr. James Scholl is a clinical psychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of adults. Dr. Scholl subscribes to a scientist-practitioner model, which involves using empirical research to influence their applied practice; while simultaneously, allowing their experiences to shape their future research questions. James has experience in outpatient, community, hospital, and academic settings; providing therapeutic and evaluation services for those with trauma-related disorders, depression, stress, sleep disturbances, mood and anxiety disorders, and psychosis. Additionally, Dr. Scholl has specialized training and experience working with Veterans, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, the gender diverse community, and individuals impacted by violence. Prior to opening their private practice, Dr. Scholl worked as a violence prevention research and clinical specialist at Princeton University, and served as chair of the Transgender Health Team. Their role included creating and evaluating educational programs focused on bystander intervention, healthy relationships, and masculinity, providing direct patient care, and shaping relevant policy and practice guidelines at the university. Above all else, Dr. Scholl believes in the humanistic principles of genuineness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard and wishes for all patients to feel heard, understood, and respected.
