As both a therapist and a person, I understand that life sometimes serves up hard-to-categorize problems that can be overwhelming. I'm very familiar with issues like depression, anxiety, and addiction, and my training and certification in EMDR allows me to be especially effective with trauma resolution and attachment repair. My career started on a hospital behavioral health inpatient unit, which has allowed me to become comfortable with some pretty intense situations, but my background is varied and I work well with all ages. Therapy with me is relaxed yet focused - and I promise not to ask you how that makes you feel. View 7 PhotosI practice attachment-focused EMDR, so means I'm really interested in who you are and where you came from. Behaviors we consider to be "bad" are actually useful answers to problems we saw a lot early on, but we got so good at them that now they happen more often than we'd like. (e.g. Avoidance is useful with the school bully, but bad in close relationships.)I have unique experience in working with children and teenagers, and while it's important that family be involved, privacy is my top concern; what's said in my office stays there. If something important does need to be shared with caregivers, it will be done so sensitively and respectfully. I promise to see *you*, and not a walking set of issues.
