With more than 40 years in the health space as a HEALTH PROFESSIONAL, an INTERNATIONAL SPEAKER and a published AUTHOR, I’m here to contribute to and serve a 21st Century paradigm for individual and population health and to help raise public awareness of the wider social and commercial determinants impacting human and planetary health. As a SENIOR LEADER IN HEALTH, I'm a proactive advocate for transformational systems' change and the development of innovative, collaborative cross-sector and integrative health and wellbeing policies for person-centred and self-empowered preventive and proactive approaches to health services' delivery, supporting their integration across the health, workplace, physical activity, education, employment and community sectors. As CEO at UK & INTERNATIONAL HEALTH COACHING ASSOCIATION, I'm here to continue to grow the very first and gold standard professional body for health coaching in the world; to spread the word that skilled, credentialed health coaches are non-clinical health professionals who not only transform people’s health outcomes, but are transforming healthcare systems. To my role at UKIHCA, I bring experience as an Auxiliary Nurse in Secondary & Community medicine, an MRC Health Research Psychologist at the University of Birmingham Medical School, a National Programmes Manager at the NHS Training Directorate and joint MD of a Midlands-based Training and Management & Organisational Development Consultancy. In my former role as PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS & DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR at UKHCA, I initiated a Comprehensive Strategic Review, seeding the development of world class professional standards, scope of practice, robust education and training programme approvals, introducing UKIHCA Registration and career progression pathways in health coaching across all industry sectors. As Co-Founder and Chair-Elect of the Health Coaching Special Interest Group for the Society for Integrative Oncology/British Society for Integrative Medicine My immersive experience training as a professional chef with Darina Allen at the renowned BALLYMALOE COOKERY SCHOOL in Ireland re-ignited my love, passion and respect for real food and its time-honoured methods preparation. As a former Trustee of FORDHALL COMMUNITY LAND INITIATIVE (Fordhall Organic Farm) and the BRITISH ASSOCIATION for HOLISTIC MEDICINE and HEALTHCARE, my book 'THE REAL FOOD SOLUTION' is a call to action to take back our food and health by becoming more whole-health-and-planet conscious consumers in how we raise, grow, source, cook eat and enjoy real food.
