Dr. Isela Penunuri is a board certified Family Physician in the San Marcos Office of Palomar Health Medical Group - Graybill. As a family doctor, Dr. Penunuri’s practice scope ranges from newborns to elderly patients, both male and female. She is able to perform orthopedic injections, and gynecological procedures, including IUD insertions and removals, colposcopies, and endometrial biopsies as well as skin care. Dr, Penunuri received her undergraduate degrees in Neuroscience and Psychology and Animal Physiology from UCSD in 1995. She earned her medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara Medical School in Jalisco, Mexico in 2000. She completed her internship at the New York Medical College, Fifth Pathway Program in Valhalla, New York. She served her Family Medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, and was Chief Resident there from 2001 to 2004. Throughout her career, Dr. Penunuri has been committed to serving the healthcare needs of her community. As a resident she served on the QI Diabetes Mellitus Committee, the Sacred Heart Hospital Ethics Committee, and the Clairemont Nursing Home Quality Improvement Committee. She also has served as a volunteer for the Red Cross in Tijuana, Mexico and the Imperial Beach Community Clinic. Dr. Penunuri is a member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians. She speaks fluent Spanish.
