I am a consultant interventional cardiologist at Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne. I was appointed to this post in 2002. I am clinical lead for the North East and North Cumbria Cardiac Network and member of the British Cardiovascular Society clinical standards and practice committee. I held the post of Clinical Director of cardiothoracic medicine in Newcastle Hospitals from 2007-18. I graduated from the University of Edinburgh School of Medicine MB ChB with honours in 1990 after gaining a first class honours BSc in Medical Sciences. I then trained in medicine and cardiology in Edinburgh, Newcastle, and London. I was a British Heart Foundation Research Fellow at the National Heart and Lung Institute and was awarded an MD by Imperial College. I am an experienced cardiologist with interest in all aspects of general cardiology and sub-speciality expertise in coronary intervention.
