Hi, I am Ian Daniels, Consultant Surgeon. I have been in Exeter for over 15 years having trained in Oxford, Basingstoke (Pelican Centre) and the SW Thames Surgical Training rotation. Prior to this I was in S Wales and I studied Medicine in Cardiff. I have a degree in Medical Genetics as well. Most of my free time is spend rebuilding our house (never ending) and spending time with the kids (never enough).

I am passionate about steam trains (I don't wear an anorak often), I have an interest in military history. I am delighted to be the honorary President of the Colostomy Association and I actively support the charity http://www.colostomyuk.org

I have over 180 peer reviewed publications on PubMed (daniels i), as well as book chapters and multiple lectures at National and International Meetings/Surgical Societies. Trainees working with me have the opportunity to publish and present our work and advance their careers. My research interests include complex abdominal wall reconstruction surgery (hernias) and recurrent pelvic cancer. I have an interest in managing "Problem Stomas." Through my research and practice I am regularly invited to help colleagues perform surgery in South Africa and other countries and I am engaged in teaching surgery to trainees and mentoring colleagues.
