Hillel D. Cohen, M.D., joined South Florida Gastroenterology in 2009. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. Dr. Cohen received his medical education from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (Rutgers) in New Jersey, where he completed his residency and gastroenterology fellowship as well. He was in private practice for two years in New Jersey before moving to Florida and joining South Florida Gastroenterology. Dr. Cohen performed clinical research and published articles in the areas of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis), gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) related disorders and stomach ulcers. In addition to performing all routine endoscopic procedures (including colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, upper endoscopy, and capsule endoscopy), Dr. Cohen is proficient in performing nonsurgical techniques for hemorrhoids. He is one of only a few doctors in South Florida that performs both Infra Red Coagulation therapy (similar to a laser therapy) and hemorrhoidal banding for symptomatic hemorrhoids. Both of these options are relatively complication free, are pain free, and are performed in his office. He routinely treats patients for colon cancer prevention as well as those with reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus (including the relatively new HALO procedure to eradicate Barrett’s esophagus) celiac disease, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and diseases of the liver, (such as fatty liver and hepatitis C) gallbladder, and pancreas. Dr. Cohen is an active member of the medical staffs at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, West Boca Medical center, and Delray Medical Center. Dr. Cohen is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (honors society for medical doctors),as well as the American College of Gastroenterology and has been the recipient of numerous awards for his outstanding medical care. He is currently accepting new patients in his Boca Raton and Delray offices.
