Heather is a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of Liverpool, and a Teaching Fellow. Before that Heather had worked for 7 years in the NHS in physical in-patient settings, and older adult mental health, and a further 2 years in the HSE, Ireland in a community physical and sensory setting. She also worked for 2 years as a case worker for Refugee Action, Liverpool with newly arrived asylum seekers. Heather is passionate about many areas of occupational therapy practice and education. Her particular areas of teaching interest are around belonging and identities, person centred care, forced migration and perspectives of refuge and asylum, and feminist perspectives particularly surrounding domestic violence and femicide.
