Hazel is a trained nurse and lawyer turned CEO and the Co-Founder of Athari, a technology firm on a mission to eliminate the access gap for all candidates. With notable clients such as The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, MLB Players Association, and Carver Federal Savings Bank, Athari is already making great strides toward transforming the way talent is engaged, assessed, and hired. As the first Black attorney hired by a 75 year old institution and often being the only minority face in many spaces, Hazel knows first hand that most employers lack the tools to find diverse talented candidates. That's why, during the pandemic and after re-examining her priorities, Hazel chose to dedicate the rest of her career to uplifting diverse perspectives, creating opportunities for underrepresented candidates, and building paths to access high trajectory careers. Thus, Athari was born - to build a holistic and scalable solution to the barriers that often thwart efforts to fairly hire candidates, addressing solely their skills and capability rather than other outdated and often metrics. Athari is a fully-integrated technology platform that assesses the coding ability of software engineers while providing traditional placement solutions for other industries. Athari is backed by the West Harlem Innovation Network (WHIN) and advised by Gene Waddy, the former CEO and Co-Founder of Diversant which was the largest African American owned IT staffing firm in the nation. Athari has been named the exclusive recruiting firm for the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, is a winner of the 2023 Carver Federal Savings Bank Pitch Competition, and was an Outstanding Initiative finalist for the 2024 Black Tech Achievement Awards.
