Giorgia successfully graduated in 2015 in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology at University of Camerino (Italy), submitting an experimental thesis in Pharmacology and Toxicology titled “Reduced Vulnerability to Drugs of Abuse in Rats with a Genetic Deletion of NOP Nociceptin Receptor”. Following which she moved to London where she joined the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) becoming a registered pharmacist in the UK. After working in community pharmacies for about three years, she decided to pursue a scientific research career and accepted the challenge of embarking on a PhD program in Pharmacy at University of Hertfordshire in February 2018. Currently she is investigating the area of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and how to enhance the in-field detection using Raman spectroscopy and Chemometrics. She also presented her work through scientific posters during the “Life and Medical Science Conference”, University of Hertfordshire, “Analytical Research Forum 2018” at Royal Society of Chemistry in London in 2018, “JPAG pharmaceutical analysis research awards and careers symposium” at Royal Society of Chemistry in London in 2018, and through the “Vision and Voice competition 2018”.
