Dr. Giancarlo McEvenue currently works in Miami Florida at Top Aesthetics since January of 2020. Previously he had worked at the Mclean clinic in Mississauga, Ontario since 2017. Dr. McEvenue has a special interest in breast surgery, facial aesthetics, rhinoplasty, Brazilian Butt Lifts, and abdominoplasty. Dr. McEvenue comes from a Canadian/Colombian background and grew up in Toronto, Canada. After completing high school in Toronto at Michael Power/ St. Joseph where he excelled on both the Ice Hockey and Cross-country running teams. After high school, he attended the University of Toronto where he completed an undergraduate degree in Human Biology with honors. During his undergraduate education, Dr. McEvenue won numerous academic scholarships including the St. Michael’s College GPA scholarship award, and the Institute of Medical Science summer student scholarship three summers in a row. Next, he headed off to medical school in the Dutch Caribbean at SABA University School of Medicine to complete his M.D. degree. His passion for plastic surgery was discovered during medical school when he had the opportunity to see how Plastic Surgeons use their skills to improve people’s quality of life. After achieving top marks in medical school and all medical licensing exams, Dr. McEvenue matched into the highly competitive Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program at the University of Toronto. During Residency Dr. McEvenue published 8 scholarly articles in peer reviewed journals on a wide range of topics including: hand surgery, social media, burns, and female to male sex reassignment surgery. His research has been presented at many national and international meetings: including The Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons annual meeting and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Meetings. Dr. McEvenue’s research activities culminated with him winning the “Best Clinical Paper” award at the 2017 U of T Plastic Surgery Research Day. Dr. McEvenue has a passion for helping others and he was able to achieve a lifelong dream of going on a surgical mission in aide of Syrian refugees living in Lebanon. This was an amazing experience for Dr. McEvenue and his career goal is to do 1-2 medical missions per year to places where there is little to no access to plastic surgery. Dr. McEvenue also believes in giving back locally by regularly participating in charity events: including CIBC run for the cure and Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day. Dr. McEvenue’s own Charity started in his sister’s memory is called “JoJo’s kids” and helps underprivileged children attend summer camp. Throughout his entire life, Dr. McEvenue has been drawn to art and beauty, pursuits such as drawing and photography have helped him to express his creativity and aesthetic eye long before plastic surgery. The art and science of beauty are what make him passionate about plastic surgery. He also still plays hockey regularly and enjoys weightlifting and yoga. Dr. McEvenue is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and holds memberships in numerous medical and scientific organizations, including the Canadian Medical Association, The Ontario Medical Association, and Candidate Memberships in the International Society of Plastic Surgeons and Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons.
