George Guthrie, MD, MPH, is a board-certified family medicine physician and a member of the family medicine team at AdventHealth’s academic practice in Winter Park. He received his medical degree from Loma Linda University in 1981 and completed his residency at Hinsdale Hospital near Chicago. He holds certification from the Certification Board of Nutrition Specialists (CBNS), is a Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) and has a special interest in lifestyle management for those with Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, obesity and coronary heart disease. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree with a focus on nutrition from the School of Public Health and the School of Medicine at Loma Linda University, where he was on the faculty. Dr. Guthrie has been involved in the development of several lifestyle programs, including the Coronary Health Improvement Project (CHIP), the Wellspring Diabetes Program, and the CREATION Health program at AdventHealth.
